Privacy Policy

Skyvo helps you understand the sun and the air around you, and it's designed to do that while knowing as little about you as possible. We're not in the data business. We don't want a map of where you go, and we've built the app so that we never need one.

What the app sends, and why

To show you UV and air-quality conditions, the app sends your device's coordinates toSkyvo's own server. If you search for a city by name, it sends the text you typed. That's the whole list. No name, no email, no account, and no identifier that ties the request back to you.

Our server passes the request to our weather data provider (currently Open-Meteo), fetches the forecast, and returns it. So the path is simply: your coordinates → our server → our data provider.

What our server stores (and doesn't)

Our server is built to forget. Before it fetches anything, it rounds your coordinates to a roughly 11 km grid. It then briefly caches the weather data for that grid cell, not for you, and shares it with everyone else in the area: about an hour for conditions, and a day for city-search results. There's no location history, no profile, and nothing keyed to a person. Because data is stored by area rather than by user, our server genuinely can't tell you apart from anyone else nearby.

Like nearly every service on the internet, our infrastructure provider creates short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) that help keep the service secure and running. We don't use these to identify you, and we don't build profiles from them.

Accounts and what stays on your phone

Skyvo doesn't require an account. If you use the app without one, everything personal stays on your device: your saved locations, your settings and units, your skin type (used to estimate burn times, and it never leaves your phone), and cached conditions so you can still see the latest data offline. Your daily-summary notifications are scheduled right on your device, so there are no push servers and no push tokens involved. Delete the app and all of this goes with it.

If we introduce accounts or cross-device sync in the future, they will be optional, and we'll update this policy first to explain what an account stores.

Location permission is also optional. You can decline it and simply add cities by searching for them instead.

Analytics

We may collect anonymous usage statistics, such as the device model, app version, which screens are used, and coarse country, to help us understand what to improve. Nothing in these statistics is tied to your identity, they contain no advertising identifiers, and they are never sold.

Purchases

The app offers optional paid features and subscriptions. Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and we never see your payment card details. To unlock what you've paid for, we may use a purchase-management service that receives anonymized transaction information (such as a receipt to validate).

The website

Our website (skyvo.app) sets no cookies and uses no analytics or trackers. The same kind of standard technical logs described above apply to it.

Children

Skyvo isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Since the app doesn't collect personal information on our servers to begin with, there is very little to collect from anyone.

Your rights and choices

Because we don't keep personal data about you on our servers, there's usually nothing for us to look up or delete. Deleting the app removes your data directly. If you're in the EU or EEA, you have rights under the GDPR, such as access, correction, and erasure. You can exercise those rights, or ask us anything about privacy, by emailing hello@skyvo.app.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles your information, we'll post the updated policy here with a new date. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
